Throughout history, Mary has appeared to people in ways that guide, comfort, and challenge the faithful.
These are called Marian apparitions, and three of the most famous are:
Our Lady of Guadalupe (Mexico, 1531) – Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego, asking him to build a church and promising protection and care for her people. Her image and message unite millions and remind us that God cares for every person, especially the poor and marginalized.
Our Lady of Lourdes (France, 1858) – Mary appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous, calling people to prayer, penance, and healing. Lourdes is a reminder of God’s mercy and the power of faith in the midst of suffering.
Our Lady of Fatima (Portugal, 1917) – Mary appeared to three children, urging prayer—especially the Rosary—and conversion for peace in the world. Fatima teaches the importance of prayer, penance, and trusting God’s plan.
Why they matter:

They call us to faith, prayer, and moral courage.
They inspire personal transformation—small acts of love and devotion can change the world.
